Bentley turns 100-years-old this year, and to celebrate it’s decided to look to the brand’s future instead of the past.
It has unveiled a new concept car that represents where it thinks the automotive industry will be by 2035. The main draw; it’s an all-electric self-driving Gran Turismo.
The car features a streamlined silhouette (which should give Bentley aficionados a few hints as to where the Marquis is going design-wise) including imposing headlights – which hark back to the original Bentley Blower.
Inside, you get a mixture of leather, glass and wood – along with an omnipresent light. The seats are biometric – and can be configured in different ways according to whether or not the driver is actually behind the steering wheel or being driven by the car.
Biometric sensors also monitor temperature, passenger position and even blood pressure, in order to provide optima comfort.
The concept car will also be equipped with an air purifier that filters air and adds its very own custom fragrance, developed alongside perfumer 12.29.
Bentley is also throwing in a personal assistant, which will be the main feature of the control panel. The voice-activated Bentley Assistant will allow you to control many aspects of the motor.
Under the hood, the all-electric motor will propel you from 0 to 100kph in just 2.5-seconds. The car’s range is up to 700-kilometres, and Bentley has said the car would re-charge up to 80 per cent full in just 15-minutes.
