For anyone who wanted to be a Transformer as a kid, there is a new virtual reality videogame that has just opened up in Dubai Mall’s Virtual Reality Park.
The game – which puts you inside a robotic shell – sees you playing the role of Autobot Bumblebee as he defends the world against a Decepticon invasion. The game was put together by virtual reality company RobocomVR with help from Hasbro (the makers of Transformers).
For the past twenty years virtual reality has dazzled gamers with the prospect of a fully immersive experience. But the tech has yet to deliver on this promise. Fortunately, companies such as Robocom – as well as new purpose-built venues such as Dubai VR Park – are looking to change that.
The game has now been officially launched, at a star-studded launch by ITP Gaming in Al Badayer Fort.

Speaking to Esquire at this year’s Dubai Games Convention, “Gaming is about evolution,” Ibrahim said at the recent Digital Games Conference. “Don’t get me wrong, traditional console gaming is fantastic but I don’t imagine having the ability to be inside a game rather than playing it on the screen wouldn’t be more exciting. The immersive experience is the future.”
The game will be open at Dubai Mall’s VR Park over the coming weeks.
