It was inevitable; Epic Games Battle Royale game Fortnite will be heading to the next generation of consoles, the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox One X.
But beyond Fortnite, Epic Games is also responsible for on of the game industry’s most important platforms – the Unreal Engine.
It has just shown off its latest build of of the platform, Unreal Engine 5, running on the PlayStation 5. The real-time deomonstration has been dubbed ‘Lumen in the Land of Nanite’.
Epic has said that Fortnite will be available on both next-gen playforms when new consoles launch this holiday, in 2020.
Fortnite will then migrate to Unreal Engine 5 midway through 2021 – the company has said.
The reveal follows Xbox’s may 7th showcase of a selection of Xbox One X games, including the Viking-themed Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
