Riot Games – creators of League of Legends – has announced its latest game, online shooter Valorant.
The new game, which takes more than a little inspiration from the classic shooter Counter-Strike and Riot Games’ hero strategy-come-RPG League of Legends, sees five players face-off in close-quarters.
Each team is made up of select characters, each with their own special moves which sit alongside a stock of classic weapons.
Riot Games has said ensuring the game doesn’t lag has been a key part of the development process. The game can be run at low resolutions to ensure low latency, meaning more time shooting and less time loading.
Valorant is currently in Alpha and has only been shown to select influencers and journalists thus far. It’s expected to go into Beta mode next month, with a full release slated for the summer.
Riot launched League of Legends back in 2009, and since then it has become a million-dollar international esport sensation.
Riot Games previously announced the game as Project A, in October last year. It also announced two other games, dubbed Project L and Project F.
Only time will tell what those titles end up being.
