Sonic attracted some A-class rap talent for its theme song

Sonic the Hedgehog’s first proper film didn’t get off to a great start.

When the animated version of the world’s fastest hedgehog was originally unveiled by Paramount Pictures in April of last year, mass outcry by the internet caused the studio to go back to the drawing board with the main character.

Still, fan reactions to the new version of Sonic have been good. And reactions to the new theme song, featuring some of the biggest names in the world of rap, look to be extremely good.

Two generations of hip-hop artists joined forces to create the song, titled ‘Speed Me Up’. It is the official theme song for February’s Sonic the Hedgehog.

The track – which makes plenty of mention of Sonic games – gold ring, spin dashes, Tails and Knuckles – also mixes in context of the rapper’s fame and wealth. It’s produced by Take A Daytrip of Lil Nas x Sheck Wes fame.
