Last night saw Fortnite’s Season 10 finale, where the game deleted itself. Yes, Fortnite is now gone.
Players who tuned in for “The End” season finale event found out it was far more literal than anyone had previously thought. Post-event, the game is no longer playable (at the time of writing, it’s still not playable).
The explosive ending caused the destruction of the island, and the game itself.
More than 1 million players tuned in to watch the finale on Twitch.
Fortnite Season 10 finale: what happened?
Like in season 4, the event kicked off with a rocket launching into the sky and creating rifts. Like the earlier event, the rocket entered a rift but came back as several more rockets.
These rockets combine into one final rift, eventually causing the meteor that was frozen above Dusty Depot throughout season 10 to move, then disappear into one final rift.
Finally, as the music swelled players began floating in the air uncontrollably as one giant rift opened up above the island. The meteor came out of the rift, smashing into the singularity at Loot Lake and an explosion occurred, which sucked everything into it.
All that was left was a black hole.
Currently, all official Fortnite social media accounts only show the black hole. Epic Games has also deleted more than 12,000 tweets on the Fortnite Twitter account, aside from a YouTube link streaming the black whole.
The stream has been live for more than 10-hours now, although some players have seen mysterious numbers appear within the ether.
The ending of Fortnite has left many asking questions. Even the official Twitch channel offered some fun theories.

But don’t worry, Fortnite isn’t gone forever. Season 11 has been confirmed by Epic Games, and its most likely date is October 17th.
Until then, perhaps the game will stay switched off. And considering the company is currently being sued by angry parents who allege the game is more addictive than cocaine, maybe that’s a good thing.
