1484 by Puro, which sits atop Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah, will be opening a pop-up in an ‘equally spectacular location’ soon.

The UAE’s highest restaurant has closed for the time being.

Ras Al Khaimah’s 1484 by Puro, high atop Jebel Jais, cited COVID-19 restrictions when announcing the closure.

“In light of the strengthened restrictions put in place to ensure the wellbeing of all visitors to Ras Al Khaimah, and in our ongoing pursuit to ensure that our guests have the best possible experience, we have decided to temporarily close 1484 By Puro on Jebel Jais. We see this as an opportune time to enhance our offering and reconfigure and expand the space to create an even more memorable dining experience,” the restaurant said in a statement.

“We thank you for understanding and we can’t wait to see you again!” the brand wrote in an Instagram post.

The restaurant, the name of which ‘1484’ refers to the actual height in metres that the restaurant sits above sea level, has been popular since its opening in October 2020, with many dates having been completely booked well in advance. Many have comented on the brand’s Instagram that they have booked months in advance to visit the restaurant, with some bookings set for dates in the near future, which it now seems are unlikely to be filled.

For those unable to visit the restaurant and who may miss their bookings, the restaurant is planning to provide an outdoor pop-up in an ‘equally spectacular location’ until the main location reopens, which the restaurant said will be made with social distancing in mind with a more expansive space in light of the ongoing situation.

One pop up location will reportedly be at Toroverde Adventure Center.

The restaurant did not specify whether standing bookings will be automatically booked in for the pop up locations.
