Italian luxury house Gucci will open up its first restaurant in the US next year, an expansion to Massimo Battura’s Gucci Garden concept in Milan.
The restaurant will open its doors in the spring of 2020, alongside other luxury brand boutiques on Rodeo Drive. It will be the second restaurant opened by the Kering-owned group and the first outside of Italy.
Gucci Garden (dubbed ‘Osteria’) was a passion project by CEO Marco Bizzarri and his friend, three-Michelin-star Massimo Bottura. It opened in January 2018 and received its first Michelin star in November.
The move into restaurants is all part of the brand’s expansion beyond fashion, and into other areas of luxury lifestyle. It has become a bit of a trend, with similar brands such as LVMH also making the jump into F&B and lifestyle.
Diro – which is owned by LVHM – recently said that it was thinking about putting a restaurant on Rodeo Drive, meant for wealthy consumers in Beverly Hills.
