The Gypsy Chef gets two new restaurants – Bleu Blanc and BASTA! – both in the Renaissance Downtown Hotel.

They don’t call him the gypsy chef for nothing.

David Myers has finally brought his eclectic style of cooking to the UAE. Known by the gypsy moniker, Myers earned his nickname for his love of travel and experimenting with different styles of cuisine.

His two new restaurants – both in the brand-spankin’ new Renaissance Downtown Hotel – are a suitable mixture of cultures; Bleu Blanc serves French-inspired fair, while BASTA! spans modern Mediterranean.

Bleu Blanc Dubai

Bleu Blanc is based around the concept of a French farmhouse, with floor-to-ceiling herb garden and freshly baked bread. An open plan kitchen – complete with wood-fired grill – brings the action directly into the dining room.

BASTA! Dubai

BASTA! is described as a “Roman trattoria meets Florentine steakhouse meets Neapolitan pizzeria”. Regardless of the definition, the restaurant serves the likes of pizza, pasta and other Mediterranean staples.
