You once again check in to Dubai’s floating QE2 hotel and live like royalty

Dubai’s QE2 floating hotel will open its doors again on October 1.

The 13-deck hotel is currently preparing for guests and accepting reservations for its dining establishments, including Esquire favourite The Pavilion which overlooks the Port Mina Rashid Yacht Club.

The 53-year-old ship circled the world 25 times before calling the UAE its permanent home. In that time, it ferried more than 2.5 million people to the US and back 812 times. Since docking here in 2018, it has seen sweeping refurbishments and now has 224 reconditioned suites.

QE2 just received a stamp of approval from from Dubai Tourism, the Department of Economic Development and the Dubai Municipality. That means it is now free to resume taking on guests and the general public.

There’s also some decent rates to be had, starting at overnight stays of AED435 per room (with breakfast). Or you can go for a Captain’s room for AED473.

Dining choices on the ship consist of the just recently reconditioned Queen’s Grill, a modern-day Bistro; The Golden Lion, the QE2’s proper English bar, and Lido, the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant.

The new comes at an auspicious time for the floating hotel. Today marks the 53rd anniversary of the QE2’s official unveiling by Queen Elizabeth II to the official public.
