The Seychelles are some of the most beautiful islands in the world, and they’re but a stone’s throw away from our city of Dubai.
And while we know a single look at the picturesque island chain’s Instagram account will give you every reason to visit Seychelles, we’re going to provide you with eight reasons why you should anyway.
So enjoy – and get planning.
There are direct flights on Emirates

Emirates flies to Seychelles daily, making it easy to get to the island paradise of one of The Seychelles 115 Indian Ocean islands.
There are two direct flights every day (one that arrives in the morning, and another in the afternoon) and neither will break the bank. You can get an economy class seat for around AED3,000. Flights take around four and a half hours.
There’s no phone signal

Yes, that’s a good thing. There are few places on this earth where your phone simply can’t connect to the outside world, parts of Seychelles included.
Bird Island (so called for its many birds) is one such resort, where smartphones stop working to the betterment of the many guests looking for some time away from their next status update.
You can hike

Unlike some other pacific island chains, Seychelles has both big and small islands. Morne Seychellois National Park is large enough for you to hike, going from amazing beaches to luscious forests.
…and you can sail

As to be expected (you have seen these pictures, yes?) there’s an awful lot of blue sea to traverse when getting around Seychelles. Skip the seaplane, and instead travel by boat for some of the best views this side of the equator.
Most resorts will let you travel by speedboat, but for our money, a catamaran is the only way to travel.
…or dive

There are loads to see above the waves, but under the sea is where all the action is. Seychelles has one of the most diverse underwater communities in the world, and its marine life has recently become protected. That makes for some terrific diving.
Don’t want to get wet? Then why not jump in the back of a glass-bottomed boat, letting you enjoy the many coral reefs in the dry.
The ‘gram will thank you

The Seychelles is one of the most beautiful places on earth, and also one of the most Instagrammed locations on the planet. And since your phone won’t work, you may as well throw your hat into the photographic ring.
It’s not too expensive

Yes, there is a hefty number of five-star resorts on the island, but there are a large number of exceptional four and three stars, too. While the service may differ from resort to resort, one thing that is certain to stay the same are the beautiful beaches.
