Online influence is a fraught subject. Although, one particular star that has undeniably ‘blown up’ on social media over the past several years is the Turkish town of Cappadocia, thanks to image-fuelled travellers looking for the ultimate picturesque backdrop to help them look ‘super cute, Hun’.
Located in central Turkey, the area is made distinctive due to its almost other-worldly clusters of cone-shaped rock formations that are best seen from above via hot air balloon. Due to its recent spike in popularity, the town has begun hosting an annual hot air balloon festival in July, but the ‘season’ starts in April and last right on through until the end of this month, so make sure your iPhone is fully charged.
