Dataminers say the Mad Titan will be back in the game by the end of April

  • Fans have found code that hints that Thanos will return to Fortnite
  • Last year the Mad Titan appeared for a month-long period to promote Avengers: Infinity War
  • Fortnite’s Thanos had special powers that made him stronger than other characters
  • Thanos’ inclusion in the game would help promote Avengers: Endgame – which releases on April 26

Thanos – the big bad of the Marvel Universe – is heading back to Fortnite just in time for the Avenger’s Endgame.

That’s according to dataminers, who have been sifting through the Epic Games’ latest Fortnite patch. They say they’ve found code that points to another guest appearance by the Mad Titan, similar to last-year’s Avengers Infinity War.

Leading up to the launch of last year’s Avenger’s flick, Thanos appeared as a special character in Fortnite. The mechanics were simple – but terrifying – a gauntlet would land on the map in a random location, and whoever’s character got to it first became the Mad Titan (complete with the ability to jump for miles and fire lasers out of his gauntlet).

The data seems to be legit – unless it’s Epic Games’ developers playing a trick on humanity. According to the Twitter account ‘Skin-Tracker’ there are death-messages hidden in the game’s code that directly reference the special character, including, “yielded to the POWER of Thanos” and “unleashed an inferno on”.

Thanos to return to Fortnite for Avengers Endgame

Fortnite is never one to shy away from some sort of in-game activity to pump up excitement for the Battle Royale title. Last year saw the world’s largest ever in-game concert, featuring Marshmello (that saw more than 30-million players participate).

Considering last year’s successful partnership – and the fact that Fortnite and Marvel must surely be two of the most profitable entertainment franchises on Earth right now – the sky really is the limit when it comes to what might happen come the end of the month. Perhaps we’ll see more Avengers appear this time around? Who knows (dataminers, apparently).

Avengers: Endgame is out on April 26, so we’ll just have to wait for the clock to countdown each week to see when/if Thanos will make his second appearance.
