Last night saw one of the biggest concerts in the world take place (but we’re going to assume you probably didn’t hear about it until this morning’s social media swarm).
Marshmello – aka Christopher Comstock (aka, the dude who wears a marshmallow on his head) – starred in the world’s first live virtual concert in history. The concert, which was ‘held’ inside the current darling of the videogame world, Fornite, saw a digital Marshmello take to the stage, and play tracks such as ‘Alone’, ‘Gassed Up’, ‘Check This Out’. and ‘Everyday’.

The ten-minute concert took place in the game’s Pleasent Park area. While Fortnite only allows 100-players per game, the Marshmello concert was simultaneously streamed in thousands of games across the world. While no official numbers have yet been revealed, it looks like one of the largest virtual gatherings of its kind.
Marshmello, who’s an outspoken Fortnite fan, took to Twitter last night saying, “The first ever live virtual concert inside of @fortnite with millions of people in attendance. So insane, thank you epic games and everyone who made this possible!”
He went on to jokingly admit that “there were so many people mad at me cuz I couldn’t bring them on stage in the game,”.
Players who joined in the virtual mosh-pit were offered Marshmello-themed skins and emotes, as well as a special “Marshy Smasher” pickaxe.
