After performing several sell-out concerts throughout the Emirates, Coldplay has announced it will be heading to Jordan to host an AM/PM double performance.
The band is heading to the country’s capital city of Amman to livestream two exclusive performances from their new double-album named Everyday Life. The stream will be shown on YouTube and reveal all of the band’s newest songs.
Within the new album there’s a lot of Arab world influences, the video for Arabesque for example has “salam wa habb” (peace in love) written in the top corner. Another song on the album is set to be Bandi Adam, which means Child of Adam in English.
Even on the band’s reveal for the cover art of the album, the words “Everyday Life” sat beneath an Arabic translation of the same phrase.
With the Jordanian performance, it’s uncertain right now if tickets will go on sale for the livestreamed event, or if it will be an online exclusive. The album itself, which is the band’s eighth, is broken up into ‘Sunrise’ and ‘Sunset’. Each side of the album showcases different songs and a different tone.
The ‘Sunrise’ part of the latest album will be streamed at 8am UAE time (6am Jordan time) on YouTube. They will then return at 8pm UAE time (6pm Jordan time) to round off with the ‘Sunset’ portion of songs in the album.
The band said: “These two broadcasts have been our dream since we first started work on this album. It’s a bit impossible and a bit scary, like all the best dreams. YouTube is the perfect home for it.”
The four musicians took to YouTube to show an online (satirical) press conference revealing the latest performance. In the video drummer Will Champion explained that: “Our album, Everyday Life is an attempt to convey the fact that there is a lot of shared experience and things that affect us all,”
The British-based band has long had strong ties to the Arab world. The band has made historic appearances in Abu Dhabi on more than one occasion. The rock group first headed to the capital city back in 2009, performing at the Emirates Palace. The National explains that his night has become legend as it was unusually rainy during the show, meaning fans had to battle with the elements as they enjoyed the ‘Yellow’ band.
Again they returned in 2011 for a New Year’s event and did the same in 2016.
The online performances will be streamed directly onto YouTube on November 22.
