What the England star does when he’s not playing rugby…

Off the back of an all-conquering season with England, and with the British Lion’s tour of New Zealand starting in June, England’s young rugby fly-half has the world at his feet. During a recent stay at the Jumeirah Al Naseem hotel in Dubai, Esquire Middle East sat down with the man to find out what makes him tick off the field.

Coffee
I’m a complete coffee snob. My go-to is a flat white, but I also have all the gear. I have a Chemex (below), I drink cold brews during the hot summer months; I’ve very picky about it. You won’t see me queuing up at a Starbucks!

Book
I’m big into my basketball. In fact, Michael Jordan is my sporting idol. I devoured the book Relentless by Tim Grover. He was a personal trainer for both Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, and a lot of the book looks at the mindset behind those two athletes.

Car
I recently bought a Range Rover Sport. I like cars, but I’ve never had any dreams of owning flashy sports cars. I’ve always prefered 4x4s over soprts cars. The Range Rover Sport is my ideal car because it’s big, comfortable and somewhere I can throw all by gear in the back of.

Tech
I’m all Apple compatible. You can do pretty much everything between the iPhone and the MacBook. I use them to look at analysis videos from the coaching staff ahead of the weekend’s games.
