Sony has announced ’Uncharted’ theatrical debut will happen December 2020

  • Sony Pictures has revealed it’s turning its Uncharted video game series into a feature film
  • The first Uncharted movie will be out in December of next year
  • So far Spider-Man actor Tom Holland is attached to play a young Nathan Drake

Sony has teamed up with filmmaker Dan Trachtenberg – the man behind 10 Cloverfield Lane – to bring its video game franchise Uncharted to life on the silver screen next year.

Sony Pictures has announced a December 18, 2020 US theatrical release date for the film adaptation.

According to sources, Spider-Man Homecoming’s Tom Hollan will take on the lead role of Nathan Drake (one we assume goes back to when he was a much younger explorer).

Trachtenberg will replace Shawn Levy – who stepped away from the project due to scheduling issues. Elsewhere, the scripy will be written by Jonathan Rosenberg and Mark Walker. The film will reportedly revolve around Drake’s meeting with future mentor, Victor ‘Sully’ Sullivan.

Nathan Fillion – he from Firefly and Bones fame – has long been a fan-favourite to play the eponymous adventurer in either a film or television adaptation. Last year, the actor even went so far as to star in a live action fan film that has so far clocked more than 5-million views.

The only other film slated for launch on that day next year is the Steven Spielberg helmed West Side Story remake.
