- The internet has been enraged over the seemingly lacklustre Season 8
- Cast members took to social media to say goodbye to the series
Here we are: the end. The final season of Game of Thrones has been polarizing to say the least, and while social media drank in the last hour-ish installment of the series, one thing was certain: everyone has an opinion, reaction, or meme to share about it.
From the people who have covered the series for nearly ten years to the optimists who believe that there’s still a way for the series to save itself, it’s hard to have a conversation with anyone in 2019, the year of our Lord Bran Stark, without discussing HBO’s biggest series to date.
Coming off of last week’s penultimate episode, the internet was, to say the least—a little upset. From broken story arcs and dead dragons to absolute rage over Cersei and Jaime’s lackluster death, fans had some serious doubts about whether or not the series was going to be able to tie up all the loose ends that were still hanging: is Jon ever not going to be useless and is Dany actually going to go mad after such an empowering turn. And most of all, is someone sensible going to be sitting on the Iron Throne at the end of the day?
But you’re not going to skip out on the last episode right? For better or worse, Game of Thrones has to come to an end, and the final 85 minute installation is worthy of the Internet’s attention. Before the episode even started, cast members hit social media with their own goodbyes.

And that’s that. Game of Thrones is over, but the reactions will continue for days (weeks?) to come. Queen Dany is dead. Drogon is going on his own version of Eat, Pray, Love following mommy’s sad death, and the Stark family rules again. Long Live Bran the Broken. Hail Sansa, Queen of the North.
