The Egyptian-American is up for Best Actor in a Television Series for the second year running

Egyptian-American actor/comedian Ramy Youssef has received another Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Television Series, for his show Ramy.

The actor – who won the same award category last year – has again been nominated by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association in a highly competitive category with other actors including Don Cheadle (Black Monday), Nicholas Hoult (The Great), Eugene Levy (Schitt’s Creek) and Ted Lasso actor Jason Sudekis.

In last year’s debut season of Ramy, Youssef’s portrail as the protagonist was met with both critical and comercial success. The first-generation Arab-Muslim-American who tackled the many stereotypes he has to face in America, won the 29-year-old actor a Golden Globe award and a global following.

In the new season, Youssef digs deeper into his Muslim faith, introducing a charismatic imam named Sheik Ali, played by Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali, with whom Ramy quickly bonds.

The nominees were announced this weekend, with the 78th Golden Globe Awards show will take place on February 28.
