After 11 long seasons, the zombie horror is coming to an end. But like a real zombie, it’s coming back

After ten years of slow ambling (and we’re not talking about the zombies) AMC’s The Walking Dead will finally meet its demise. The Walking Dead is coming to an end after its 11th season.

According to reports, season 11 will arrive late in 2021 and consist of 24 episodes. After that, the show will be no more.

But AMC isn’t quite ready to stop flogging this particular zombie horse. It will be making a theatrical trilogy that follows early season protagonist Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln), and a teaser was released at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con.

AMC also says that it will be producing a spin-off series for two of the show’s most loved characters, Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Carol Peletier (Melissa McBridge). That show is estimated to hit screens in 2023.

There will also be another series, called Tales of the Walking Dead – which will flesh out some of its main character’s backstories. That means that fan favourite characters from the first seasons will no doubt be back fighting zombies.

It looks like the zombies they feature, AMC’s The Walking Dead is truly unkillable.
