Health documentaries are big business in 2020, so it should come as no surprise that the genre is starting to attract A-list Hollywood celebrities such as Chris Hemsworth.
The Avenger’s star who is just as well-known for shirtless scenes as his role as Thor, will star in a six-part science series that will follow Hemsworth “on an epic mission to discover how we all can live healthier, smarter and longer lives”.
The docuseries is called Limiteless, and is being produced by Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan, The Wrestler), and Jane Root (The World According to Jeff Goldblum, One Strange Rock).
“Basically, I was somehow convinced to volunteer myself as a human guinea pig and endure a series of mental and physical challenges across the globe, all for the sake of science,” Hemsworth says.
“We’re hoping to shed some light on new ideas and emerging science with the focus on extending a healthy life span. Production starts soon, so wish me luck.”
Limitless will feature Hemsworth taking up a variety of challenges including scientific monitoring, to test out things like alternative diets and workout routines.
The show is expected to run on National Geographic in September.
2020 will see a raft of new documentaries and docuseries revolved around health. Following from 2018’s The Game Changers, which followed professional athletes with plant-based diets, 2020 will see Chrissy Teigen’s Fries! (a film about, you guessed it, potatoes).
