DC’s new film with Joaquin Phoenix starring as The Joker is breaking all sorts of box office records. But not everyone is happy with it; namely Jared Leto.
According to a report by THR, Suicide Squad’s Joker Leto has been left ‘alienated and upset’ by the film, and news that Warner Bros. might give Phoenix the green light for a sequel.
The news comes from an unlikely source: Martin Scorsese, who when talking about his involvement in the Todd Phillips film mentions Leto in passing.

The Joker is an iconic character, one who even rivals the heroes of the DC universe. While Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger’s performances have been some of the best depictions of the character, Joaquin Phoenix is quite quickly being celebrated as the greatest of all time.
That doesn’t sit well with Leto, apparently. His take on the villain seen in Suicide Squad received a hefty amount of criticism. Leto was upset at how many scenes featuring his Joker were shot, but did not end up in the final movie.
There were rumours that Suicide Squad would kick-off a new series of Batman vs Joker films starring Reto, but those fell to the wayside.
Jared Leto will not return to play the clown prince of crime in either James Gunn’s reboot of The Suicide Squad or Cathy Yan’s Birds of Prey.
