Spoiler alert

Fire up the rumour mill, put on your Heisenberg conspiracy hats, we’ve got another cryptic trailer to latch onto.

El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie, the long, long awaited sequel to the celebrated TV series is coming on October 11. Vince Gilligan, Aaron Paul, and the rest of the essentially unknown team, are being about as secretive as Walt was to Skylar in the beige-wearing seasons of the show. Details are trickling out though, and once again we’ve got a familiar face to raise some eye brows about.

Old Joe, the savvy owner of Rocker Salvage and an unapologetic casual criminal is set to appear in the film in some capacity. The short teaser shows Joe in his office at the junkyard, watching the news on the TV. It shows that every law enforcement out there is looking for Jesse Pinkman following his ambiguous escape from the compound.

The scene has Joe answer a phone and simply say: “Yeah, I know who this is. At this point, who doesn’t?” and that’s it. In true Gilligan fashion, this scene probably won’t lead to what you think it will – which is that Jesse is on the other end of the phone. Logic would lead us to believe Jesse is calling about having his El Camino car crushed and disposed of, similar to Walt and Jesse’s RV. However, we wouldn’t be surprised if Gilligan, the evil genius he is, is leading us astray.

Joe helped Walt and Jesse out of a number of jams in the later seasons. In season three, it was Joe’s surprising level of legal knowledge that saved the pair from being discovered by Hank. It’s Joe that stalls Hank entering the RV that allows the portable meth lab to be destroyed in time. On another occasion in season five, Joe got together the massive magnet to destroy Gus Fring’s laptop. He has also disposed of Mike’s car after Walt shot him to death. Safe to say, Joe has always been a handy man to have around in Breaking Bad.

Not only is Joe handy with his crushing business and unusual abundance of massive magnets, he’s obviously morally ambiguous, a big plus for a criminal like Jesse on the lookout for allies.
