To the shock and joy of basically everyone on the planet, the Breaking Bad Movie is a reality and it’s coming on October 11. As that launch date etches closer, the film’s pivotal star, Aaron Paul, is sharing some teasers with the fans.
In the best kept secret perhaps since Kylie Jenner’s pregnancy, the Breaking Bad movie that we often shrugged off as nothing more than a rumour is happening. In a teaser trailer released by Netflix just last month, El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie has been confirmed.
Not too much is known about the hotly-anticipated film, little more than a synopsis and the clues from Paul himself that we can piece together like a shattered yellow plate.
The Breaking Bad film will follow Jesse right after the final moments of the Breaking Bad show finale, having escaped the compound and going on the run. The film, named after the car Jesse can be seen zooming off in, is described as the following:
“[the film] reunites fans with Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul). In the wake of his dramatic escape from captivity, Jesse must come to terms with his past in order to forge some kind of future.”
The actor took to Instagram recently to upload a photo of himself during the third season of Breaking Bad. It shows Jesse working in Gus Fring’s superlab in the iconic yellow jumpsuit. The post simply reads “Hello old friend” and then has the release date below, the word Netflix, and a series of emojis.
“Hello old friend” could refer to a number of things. It could refer to Jesse returning to meth cooking as he was in that moment for Gus, it could refer to Jesse being reunited with former friends such as Badger or Skinny Pete. Or of course, it could refer to Jesse and Walt meeting once more.
Fans previously thought Walt and Jesse would return to the Breaking Bad universe together thanks to a series of synchronised posts of the two together. Paul revealed that he thought “there was only Mezcal on the horizon”, referring to the beverage both he and Bryan Cranston have been working on together. Remember those synchronised posts we went crazy about? Turns out Cranston and Paul were alluding to their upcoming drink launch rather than an upcoming movie launch.
