The only thing more anxious than a couple ‘Blue Sky’ tweaking junkies right now, is the Breaking Bad community. Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul have teased the internet with another post about a potential return for the show.
If you haven’t seen the first orchestrated teaser, you can have a look here. It also provides a quick rundown of Breaking Bad’s ‘Felina’.
Today the internet rejoiced, and got more than a couple of donkeys this time. This time round, Jesse and Walt, Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston, have both posted a photo on their Instagrams of a photo of the two of them.
A photo of Walt and Jesse?! Let’s investigate this post a little further:
It’s tagged with “Even sooner” rather than just “Soon”. We’re hoping the next teaser will be “Right now”.
There are a few things to talk about with this post. First up is Jesse’s hair, or there lack of.
In the ‘Felina’ the young man had a full head of hair and a bushy beard, looking like a proper Shaggy from Scooby Doo type. Here he is back to rocking the look he had in later seasons of Breaking Bad.
This implies that the sequel, thought to be a film, and also though to take place right after the last episode, will follow a storyline long enough for Jesse to get his life back on track to a point where looking handsome is a priority again.
Let’s also talk about Walt, who obviously *spoiler* died. Yet, there he is, right behind Jesse. He’s almost definitely going to be in flashbacks of some sort. His beard implies it will be a time period similar to after he was discovered to be Heisenberg, while Jesse was still trapped in the neo-Nazi compound.
He’s strategically wearing a hat in this picture, meaning we can’t see if he’s bald or not…
If he is, that puts the flashback timeline a bit earlier, before Walt split from his family for good, if he has hair, it’s after he split from his family.
Okay, so we might be reading into this picture and its hair follicles a bit too much, but what else are we meant to do with such pesky little teasers?
Oh, and if you think this image means Walt didn’t die at the end of the show, you’re probably wrong.
Looking at Walt’s stomach – no offense Mr Cranston – Walt seems nowhere near skinny enough to play the same man he was in ‘Felina’, his body for sure points towards a previous version of Mr White before the cancer got quite so bad.
