Following in the footsteps of its big brother Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: Far From Home has also got a re-release and it also gives us some additional Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) goodness.
With the soul-crushing news of Spidey swinging out of the MCU for the foreseeable future, we’re going to grasp onto whatever additional MCU x Spider-Man content we can. Thankfully, we’ve been given just that.
Spider-Man: Far From Home Extended Cut gives us four minutes of additional footage. The trailer released by the film’s Twitter account shows extra footage of Spider-Man using some Stark tech to beat up some baddies in a New York restaurant at night.

It is this scene that Sony describes as a “never-before-seen action sequence” it was previously promising to unveil on the film’s BluRay debut according to Screenrant.
Spider-Man Far From Home has swiftly become the most profitable film in the Spider-Man line up. The film has raked in over U.S. $1.12 billion worldwide. It’s already claimed the title of top Spidey film so some people are curious why this re-release is happening.
A popular theory out there is that the film wants to push its domestic (U.S.) box office gross past the U.S. $400 million mark. It currently stands at around U.S. $386 million so it’s not beyond the realms of possibility.
Avengers: Endgame did a similar move, re-releasing its film with some additional post-credit goodness allowed it to become the most profitable film of all time, beating out Avatar.
Unlike Avengers, the Spider-Man film isn’t making fans wait through an entire movie they’ve already seen to get to the extra stuff. The four minutes of additional footage is interspersed throughout the main movie.
With Spidey being severed from the MCU, we’d wish for some kind of snappy resolution to his *spoiler* identity being revealed at the end of the film. Alas we know that’s too much to ask for. Rest in peace MCU Spidey.
