Four years after starring together in The Theory of Everything, Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones will once again take to the silver screen on a film based on a true story.
The Aeronauts – which is being helmed by Tom Harper – has its first trailer out, and tells the tale of the very first men in the sky.
The film is based on the true story of the 19th-century meteorologist and aeronaut James Glaisher. He, along with fellow aeronaut Amelia Wren (played by Jones), set off on a journey to fly higher than any man before.
The hot air balloon mission – which ultimately leads them to make discoveries in the field of meteorology – leads the pair fighting for their lives against the elements.
As we’d expect from a ‘Hollywood true story’, not everything about the tale is what it seems. While Glaisher did indeed leave his mark on the era by breaking altitude records, Wren is entirely made up.
The movie is set to release in theatres on December 6. After that, it will be free for Amazon Prime subscribers on December 20.
