It’s a previously unseen clip of the duo acting together for the first time

Mark Hamill has given Star Wars fans a treat; he has just published previously unseen footage from his first screen test with Harrison Ford.

The actors – who played Luke Skywalker and Han Solo – had never met or read the script before they were asked to try out together.

Hamill revealed the black-and-white footage online, which shows the Star Wars duo acting opposite each other for the first time. Hamill explained that they had not gotten the jobs yet, just that George Lucas had asked them to read the script together.

Hamill also said that at the time he didn’t even know what kind of movie the film even was.

“I asked George what kind of movie it was – ‘Let’s just do it, we’ll talk about that later’. We never did talk about it later – we just did it.”

The reveal comes just less than five months before the final Star Wars film in the Skywalker saga hits theatres. The third trilogy in the series stars Mark Hamill as his iconic character Luke, playing alongside a new hero – Rey.

While Luke Skywalker bowed out of the last film, he is expected to appear in the final chapter – Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker – as a Force apparition.

The new film is slated for a December 2019 release.
