Amir Khan has been talking about retiring for about a year now. During his recent victory over Australia’s Billy Dib in Saudi Arabia, KHan said that the fight with filipino star Manny Pacquiao was confirmed and on the cards for November 8.
However, Pacquiao’s spokesperson, Fred Sternberg, told BBC Sport: “Manny has not signed any contract. As far as I know, it hasn’t even been discussed.”
“I was just told what to say in the press conference by my advisors,” Khan said to the Daily Star. “I think it was all very badly handled.
“I just think the only way a fight like that will happen is if me and Pacquiao sit together and talk.”
“Look, it’s the final chapter now. A couple of more fights – honestly. I’ve done well in the sport financially, winning titles and making a name for myself.”
He previously told Esquire Middle East in 2018 that he would call it a day in the next two years.
“I can’t believe I’m already at 37 fights, it has honestly gone so quick. I always said I’d retire when I had done 30 fights.”
Since then he’s had a controversial loss against Terrence Crawford in New York and a win over Billy Dib in Jeddah.
