Who would have thought back in 1991 that Marky Mark would be one of the highest earning actors in Hollywood? Having left the other members of the Funky Bunch firmly in his dust, Mark Wahlberg made an eye-watering $68 million (approximately Dhs250 million) in 2017.
Making more than twice the amount that Emma Stone made as the highest paid actress, Wahlberg can thank the majority of his income on the comically large pay-cheque he recevied for his performance in the comically bad Transformers: The Last Knight.
Last year’s highest earner Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was relegated to a close second on the list, proving that not even being the most charismatic man on the planet can help you in the face of dirty, dirty Michael Bay money. A range of Bollywood’s big-hitters also made the list with Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, and Shah Rukh Khan all making the top 10 to prove the massive pull that Indian actors can have at the box-office.
The disparity of pay between male and female performers continues to be a point of argument, with fourteen other actors on Forbes’ highest paid actor list making more than Stone. Including Adam Sandler.
If that fact that Adam Sandler, the man responsible for Jack and Jill, earned more than Oscar winner Emma Stone doesn’t convince you that the gender pay-gap in Hollywood exists then we’re not quite sure what will. Whereas the top 10 actresses received a combined earnings of $172.5 million, the income of the top 10 actors combined practically tripled that with $488.5 million.
The full Top 10 highest actors went as followed:
10. Akshay Kumar – $35.5 million
