The official trailer for Paul Greengrass’ News of the World has just dropped and sees Tom Hanks star as a Civil War veteran spreading non-fictional stories to those in remote locations.
The film is based on the novel by Paulette Jiles and features Hanks spreading news to small-town folks, who otherwise wouldn’t receive any updates from the outside world. Hanks is also joined by ten-year-old Johanna, who is on the search to find her biological aunt and uncle.
The film is certainly timely, given the rampant misinformation currently doing the rounds over the coronavirus pandemic and the United States election.
As well as directing the film, Greengrass also helped write the script alongside Luke Davies. Eight-time Oscar-nominated composer handled the music.
News of the World is set to hit theatres on December 25.
