Apple has just announced its next-generation iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro model. Both will be available in the UAE starting on October 23 (but you can pre-order your own device beginning October 16).
The new device stays the same size as the previous model, at 6.1-inches but is now brighter than ever before.
In bigger news, the iPhone 12 has had a complete overhaul. The curvy rounded sides are out, and now you’ll get flat sides that look like the old school iPhone 4 (or new school iPad Air and iPad Pro).
While it looks rather dinky, it’s actually hardier than ever. Apple has introduced a new Ceramic Glass screen that is a lot more durable than before (apparently, it has 4-times the drop test performance as the iPhone 11).
Inside the iPhone 12 will use Apple’s A14 Bionic processor, which gives it faster performance as well as an advanced Night Mode and support for 5G. According to Apple, the A14 Bionic is now 50 per cent quicker than before.
The iPhone 12 has two rear cameras, a new ultra-wide camera with a new aperture (for brighter images) as well as a few new modes (we are digging the new Night Mode Timelapse feature).
The iPhone 12 now uses something called MagSafe, which effectively uses built-in magnets to help snap on to wireless charging pads and Apple cases.
Eh, and now the bad news. The rumours were true and the iPhone 12 will not include the usual power adapter and wired headphones. However, you will still get a USB-C to Lightning cable.
The iPhone 12 will be available for pre-order in the UAE on October 16, and in store on October 23. It will start at AED3,399 and come in blue, green, black and white.
And if the iPhone 12 feels a little bit big for your tastes, then be sure to check out the iPhone mini.
