Audi is about to unveil a space age off-roading SUV
The 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show is just around the corner (September 10-22), and Audi is setting to impress already by releasing a teaser of its upcoming reveal.
Audi over recent years has been promising to bolster its line of electric vehicles, not only will this new SUV be presented, but also the Audi AiCon sedan that was teased in 2017 will make a showing. The AiCon turned heads due to its futuristic design and impressive 800km of range on a single charge.
At a recent Auto Show in Shanghai, Audi also showed off its plan for the Audi AI:ME, a compact, autonomous vehicle described as "a third living room".
Audi in regards to the car said that:
"We want to offer users a unique experience and a new place to get away from it all — a kind of third living space — and as much comfort and freedom as possible."
If the naming trend is to be followed, it's likely this coming SUV, also with AI in the name, will have some kind of autonomous option also.
All we have right now is a teaser image of the upcoming AI: Trail Quattro, but that’s enough for us to get excited about and realise what Audi is preparing for the show.
Described as an “electrically driven off-roader—designated for future mobility.”, the image shows an all black SUV with giant tires (perfect for off-roading), seamless glass windows and windshield and a futuristic and compact body shape.
At #IAA19, we are showcasing the concept study for an electrically driven off-roader – designated for #future #mobility. Similar to the seamless windshields/roof of your Tesla these days, the Quattro has the glass of the passenger and driver windows merge into one panel, improving visibility and making the whole thing just look more awesome.
If the car is to follow the formula of previous Quattros, it will be an all-wheel drive powertrain, maximising off-road capabilities and the power given to each wheel.
The SUV will be revealed on September 10.
