For all those who enjoy extravagant restaurants, cafes, and lounges, this place might be your cup of tea.
The Ruben’s, opposite Buckingham Palace is known to serve the most expensive cup of tea in the UK, perhaps the most expensive in the world, standing at a price point of £165 ($200). You also have the option to enjoy an entire pot of tea for approximately £500 ($620). The luxurious pot of tea is served with freshly baked pastries, scones and finger sandwiches.
What’s so special about the tea? Aside from having a spectacular view of the Buckingham Palace, the tea served is PMD’s fine Ceylon Golden Tips, a rare blend produced in the highlands of Sri Lanka.
The tea is handpicked by professional tea pickers at sunrise. Once picked, it is dried on a velvet cloth under the sun, causing a change in colour, from silver to gold. It is described to have a smooth texture with hints of fruity notes.
The tea leaves can be infused up to three times, resulting in a different flavour each time it’s infused.
Adding to the luxurious experience, the Golden Tips tea is served by picking the tea leaves with gold tweezers, and then weighed. Once it is ready, the tea is poured from a special silver tea set along with white glove service.
