A$AP Rocky is out of Sweden and in the U.S. but the drama isn’t over yet
Just over a month ago, the drama with A$AP Rocky erupted with him being charged with assault and chucked in a Swedish jail cell. Now the rapper is finally out and back in L.A., though it isn’t over yet.
A$AP Rocky, despite his millions of dollars, friends in high places and dizzyingly loyal fan base, has been held up in a Swedish jail cell for almost a month. Now he’s finally been released and has headed back to the U.S. but it’s still going to be a while before he’s headlining any festivals.

Rocky and his friends were charged with assault in July when they were in Sweden. Footage floating around showed Rocky and two of his entourage tackling a man to the ground and kicking him repeatedly.
Quite literally the jury is out on this case, questioning just how justified Rocky’s actions were. According to the bodyguard of Rocky, the assault accuser, known as Mustafa Jafari, was acting strange and the guard immediately knew there may be an issue.
The bodyguard described in court how the man’s eyes were glossy, how Jafari was harassing them, and how the guard thought it was in his right to protect himself, Rocky and the others.
He says in the states when someone approaches you for 2nd time its harassment+you’re allowed to protect yourself. He says the alleged victim came back again+ now the alleged victim was really harassing them. He said he secured Rocky+ started walking man away with body #ASAPRocky— Larissa Kennelly (@LarissaKennelly) August 2, 2019
The guard also spoke about the closed-fisted punch aimed at him by Jafari and how Jafari swung headphones at him. Regardless of any harassment, the prosecution said in court that Rocky’s actions were excessive and have asked for a sixth-month sentence for Rocky and the rest of those involved.
As it stands, Rocky is expected back in court later this month on August 14 where a decision will be announced. He has some good news though, he’s out of his “disease-ridden” cell in Stockholm and back in L.A. in the US.
Rocky’s arrest garnered an overwhelming level of support online, everyone from Post Malone, to Kim Kardashian, to President Trump got in on the #FreeASAPRocky trend.
Trump, ever the Twitter addict, took to the platform for a pun-packed celebration of Rocky’s release.

Rocky himself took to Instagram to thank everyone that has supported him during this time. Rocky described the ordeal as “difficult and humbling”.
