It’s about to get a lot harder to keep up to date with the MCU, that much is clear.

Marvel kind of went all out at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Not only did it announce Endgame is the highest grossing film of all time, it also announced 11 new films and shows to usher in the fourth phase of the MCU.

Here’s a look at those 11 drops.

*Spoiler alert*

Black Widow

Date estimate: May 1, 2020

Scarlett Johansson got a bit of a rough deal in Avengers, with getting killed off. Marvel is looking to right this wrong as the actress is returning as Natasha Romanoff for an origin story.

Black Widow will be joined by David Harbour as Alexei AKA The Red Guardian, Florence Pugh as Yelena, O-T Fagbenle as Mason, and Rachel Weisz as Melina. Cate Shortland is directing the movie.

The Eternals

Date estimate: Novemeber 6, 2020

This is the film that really ushers in the phase four-y stuff if you ask us. A team of immortal super aliens that travel through time saving humanity. That’s a serious step up in the MCU and quite clearly shows all the Dr Strange time travel stuff as a stepping stone towards this exciting craziness.

“It’s about this group of incredible immortals but through their journey we really get to explore what it means to be human and humanity on our time on this planet,” director Chloe Zhao said at Comic-Con.

Richard Madden will star as Ikaris, Angelina Jolie as Thena, Salma Hayak playing Ajak, Kumail Najiani as swordsman Kingo, Bryan Tyree Henry playing weapon-maker Phastos, and Lia McHugh playing Sprite.

The Falcon and Winter Soldier

Date estimate: Fall 2020

Here’s where Marvel shows off its genius ‘AGAIN’ – behold Disney+, the streaming service you’re soon going to notice you need in your life.

The episodic show will take place in the Captain America side of the MCU and follow Anthony Mackie (The Falcon) and Sebastian Stan (The Winter Soldier).

Captain America himself, as we all know by now, is retired. This show then will follow a new chapter in the franchise.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

Date estimate: February 12, 2021

If Black Panther was celebrated as the first solo black Marvel movie, surely Shang-Chi will get a similar reception for being the first solo Asian?

The film will follow Shang, a half American, half Chinese superhero battling against the Ten Rings organisation.

Shang-Chi will also star Awkwafina from the hit Crazy Rich Asians movie, Tony Leung as Mandarin and will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton.

“I grew up with friends that were Japanese, Chinese, Korean…that’s the norm in Hawaii. It’s amazing to see Kevin and his team create an MCU that reflects all the beautiful colors that we see in this room,” Cretton said.

WandaVision

Date estimate: Spring 2021

WandaVision is an episodic Marvel TV show exclusive to this new Netflix rival service called Disney+.

WandaVision will follow the adventures of Scarlet Witch, as well as Vision.

It is an original series starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch and Vision. Costarring with them is Teyonah Parris, whom Feige revealed would be playing the adult Monica Rambeau.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Date estimate: May 7, 2021

This is the movie that really twists your arm into buying a Disney+ subscription. The film will have Doctor Strange alongisde Scarlet Witch, linking up this movie with the WandaVision show.

Benedict Cumberbatch will return as Doctor Strange, along with Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch. Marvel is so sneaky…

Loki

Date estimate: Spring 2021

Another Disney+ show, this show will follow Tom Hiddleston as the god of mischief himself, Loki.

Little is known about this show, but we bet our bottom dollar it will make you want to watch the new Thor movie somehow or vice versa.

All that is said is that “[we] will see the god of mischief causing even more trouble”.

WHAT IF…?

Date estimate: Summer 2021

Much like Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was the company’s first pop at an animated film, this is the first pop at an animated show.

WHAT IF…?, based upon comics of the same name, will show alternate realities throughout the MCU and show you numerous different scenarios happening to your favourite heros and villans.

It will star Jeffrey Wright as the voice of The Watcher — many actors from across the MCU will reprise their roles as voice talent Marvel also explains.

Hawkeye

Date estimate: Fall 2021

If Black Widow gets a film, it’s only fair Hawkeye gets a TV series right?

Not much is known about the show, though we can assume it will be perhaps an origin tale much like Black Widow, or maybe simply follow the adventures of Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.

Thor: Love and Thunder

Date estimate: November 5, 2021

Get ready for Lady Thor, as played by Natalie Portman.

Marvel has kept all the information regarding her role a tight secret. In the comic books though, Jane Foster became Thor after the original Thor was deemed unworthy to wield his hammer, Mjolnir.

This kind of news makes us hopeful for a female Iron Man in the future…We know it’s possible guys!
