We’re serious.

  • The easy to use ridesharing app Uber is launching a rideshare submarine service

  • ‘scUber’ will be an exclusive service from May 27 to June 18 and will take riders around the Great Barrier Reef in Australia

  • Those in Queesland, Australia can book the submarine service directly through the app, people in other countries will have to enter a contest for a chance in the deep sea

We’ve seen UberChopper, the helicopter service from the folks at Uber, and now we have the even better named ‘scUber’ service, a new submarine ridesharing service in the Great Barrier Reef.

The service will run from May 27 to June 18, it will allow the public to explore Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.

If you’re lucky enough to live in Queensland, Australia right now, you can book a submarine rideshare right through the normal app, thought it will cost around $2,000, those outside Queensland will need to enter a competition on the ‘scUber’ website for a chance to take a ride.

To enter the competition you must tell Uber in 25 words or less why you should be allowed to see the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef. Not only will the winners get a go in the ‘scUber’, they and a friend will also get return flights and transfers free, five nights staying at ‘Riley Crystalbrook Collection Resort’, a tour of the Daintree Rainforest and $250 AUD Uber credit.

We’re wondering how the service will work exactly, are there ‘scUber’ drivers with higher rankings than others? What if you get a submarine that isn’t as clean or nice smelling as you’d like?

Head to the ‘scUber’ website here for a chance to win a special trip.
