Chanel Beauty has pulled the wraps off its first ever cosmetic line for men, dubbed Boy de Chanel.
Boy de Chanel comes in three makeup flavours; a foundation, a lip balm and an eyebrow pencil. It will originally launch in South Korea next month, then spread across Asia until it’s available in all Chanel boutiques around the world in January 2019.
Now to address the giggly (and blemish-faced) elephant in the room; should men even wear makeup?
Chanel believes that the days of Marlboro Man stereotypes are beyond us and that in today’s world of equality there is absolutely nothing wrong with a confident man who wants to take charge of his own appearance.
The star of the collection is almost certainly Le Teint – which comes in four different shades and, most importantly for those of us here in the Middle East, has a built-in sun protection factor of SPF25. They come in four shades, to fit your natural skin colour.
Le Baume Lèvres is a twist-up lip balm made of jojoba oil, shea butter and a Vitamin E derivative that’s supposed to hydrate and protect those puckers of yours. It’s also completely tasteless and non-glossy.
Finally, Le Stylo Sourcils is for men who want a well-groomed brow. Like the foundation, it comes in four shades: light brown, grey, dark brown and black.
The entire range goes on sale first in South Korea in September 2018. It will be available via Chanel.com from November onwards, and in boutiques across the world in January 2019.
