A new pair of exclusive sneakers are all set to hit the Level Shoe Store in Dubai Mall. How exclusive? Only six pairs exclusive – and that would be part of only 300 other pairs set worldwide.
The sneaker is part of new capsule collection from Le Coq Sportif who are launching the limited-edition footwear to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the prestigious Paris-Roubaix cycling race in France.
The Paris-Roubaix was created in 1896 by Theodore Vienne and is one of the oldest cycling races in the world. To celebrate the 120th running of the race, Le Coq Sportif launched the exclusive capsule collection based off its stylish LCS R900 design. Ensuring that all stops were pulled, the brand used premium materials including perforated nubuck at the base. The sneaker also has the Paris-Roubaix Cobblestone Emblem placed on the tongue of the sneakers. And finally the speckled effect on the sole is both a reminder and a subtle acknowledgement of the hardship cyclist’s face on the rough, cobbled route through the race.
As for the race, it starts in the north of Paris and finishes on the Belgian border. Due to the difficulty of the race, over the years, the race has earned nicknames like “The Hell of the North” and “The Toughest Race in Cycling”. The difficulty of the race comes from the cobbled route cyclists have to overcome, risking punctures and falls, which are surprisingly common. Some of the greatest cyclists in the world take part every year, with this year’s race having kicked off earlier this month.
