Last night, Instagram users were shocked to see a video of Jason Momoa clutching his iconic long locks in his hand while in the process of getting his head shaved.

Rest assured, the 43-year-old actor hasn’t had a midlife crisis and is in fact thinking quite clearly. Momoa explains that he’s shaving his head to raise awareness of ocean pollution that is caused by the use of single use plastics.
The fresh cut (in progress)
The actor hasn’t posted a photo of the final haircut just yet but clearly he did not want to cut the flowing mane as he cringed when he ran his hand across the side of his head and stated:
“Oh man, I’ve never even felt the wind right there.”

Jason Momoa’s ocean passion
While Aquaman is just a fictional character, Jason Momoa truly is the Protector of the Deep as he is a serious advocate for clean oceans. Back in 2019, he had called out fellow actor Chris Pratt for posing in the gym with a plastic water bottle.
“Bro I love u but wtf on the water bottle. No single use plastic. Come on.” commented Momoa on Pratt’s post.
Momoa later deleted his comment due to the backlash that Pratt was receiving for using the plastic bottle.

The Aquaman actor later shared a photo with Pratt and apologized for causing the internet to lash out at Pratt as that was not his intention.
“I didn’t mean for that to happen. I’m just very passionate about this single use plastic epidemic. the plastic water bottles have to stop i hope u make a reusable water bottle for amazon so we all can purchase. You’re an inspiration to many I’m one of them.” said Momoa in the post’s caption.
A few years ago, the actor shared a similar video where he shaved off his beard to also raise awareness of the impact that single use plastics have on the oceans.

Instead of single use plastics, Jason Momoa urges everyone to switch to aluminium bottles and is the founder of bottled water brand Mananalu. The company state that for every bottle of Mananalu people drink, they remove the equivalent of one plastic bottle from the ocean.
