The world should prepare themselves for a mini Justice League reunion as Aquaman star Jason Momoa confirmed that Ben Affleck is returning as Batman. Momoa shared a post of himself with the former Batman actor on the set of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom on Instagram.

This was most likely meant to be kept a secret until Batman appeared in the film as a group of fans were on a tour of Warner Bros. studios and explored the backlot of the Aquaman 2 production set where Affleck and Momoa were spotted together.

In another video in the post, Momoa can be seen filming this group of fans  and laughing while stating:

“Well it’s not a f***ing secret anymore is it? Sorry children.”

“That’s what happens Warner Bros., when you walk out of your set and there’s our fans.”

“Well, we tried to keep it a secret.”

The official DC Comics Instagram account commented “Legends.” on the post while many fans shared their excitement about Ben Affleck’s return as Batman in the comments section.

“Batfleck is in Aquaman 2?!!! Sign me up!!!”

“LEAGUE REUNITED I LOVE TO SEE IT!”

On the other side of the comics pond, actor Josh Brolin, known for playing Thanos in the MCU found the accidental Batman reveal hilarious and commented:

“Hahahahahaha”

At the moment, nobody knows what Batman will be doing in the Aquaman sequel as nothing was revealed at last weekend’s Comic Con in San Diego. However, DC Fandome typically takes place in October and while no official date has been announced, perhaps more information about Batman’s role in the upcoming film will be announced then.

Leaked footage shows Justice League in original Aquaman film

Based on leaked concept art, there were rumours that the Justice League were supposed to appear in the original Aquaman movie to help him fight Ocean Master’s army. The idea must have been scrapped as instead, we saw the King of Atlantis summon a giant kraken and army of other ocean creatures to fight back against his brother Orm’s army.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is expected to arrive in cinemas on March 17th 2023, however, Ben Affleck will be making another appearance as Batman in the upcoming Flash movie starring Ezra Miller which will release two months later on June 23.

The Batman actor had stated that his appearance in The Flash would be the last time he steps into the Batsuit. Speaking to The Herald Sun, Affleck described his experience on set as being “a really nice finish on my experience with that character.”

Actress Amber Heard who plays Mera is set to return in the Aquaman sequel despite fan petitions to get her removed from the movie.

At last year’s DC Fandome, a teaser trailer was released from Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom which showed a behind the scenes look of what to expect in the sequel.

“People are going to be in for a treat when Aquaman 2 comes out. They’re going to get a movie that’s more mature but still retains its fun while giving the audience something knew they haven’t’ seen before” said Director James Wan.
