The UAE has eased its COVID safety rules, including dropping most mask mandates today.
Yep, that means that in most public places, including malls, schools and even inside flights, masks are no longer required.
The new rules will go into effect on Wednesday, September 28.
The move was announced in a virtual briefing from a government spokesperson, saying that masks are now optional in most areas.
Airlines can still enforce the mask rule if they deem them necessary.

Masks are not dropped everywhere, of course. Masks are still required in medical facilities, mosques, and public transportation means.
Worshipers do not need to leave social distancing space between them anymore, however, with space mandates also dropped.
All food service providers, as well as those with COVID or suspected to have COVID, must also wear masks.

Cases for the virus continue to decline and deaths have dropped to basically zero in the UAE.
It’s been 1000 days since the first case of Covid-19 was announced by the World Health Organization, all the way back in December 2019.
Feels like only yesterday, doesn’t it? No? No one? It feels like 1,000 years? Ok yeah, us too.
