The greatest party of the century is coming in 10 years time

The biggest celebration of the century is coming in just 10 years. Yep, New Year’s Day will fall the same weekend as Eid Al Fitr in 2033–and could even fall on the same day.

Yep, we’ve done the math, and found that not only will there be two Eid Al Fitrs in 2033–three in total–but the first will fall around New Year’s Day, and the second will fall on Christmas.

In 2030, there will, of course, be two Ramadans to enjoy.

How Eid al Fitr and New Year’s will fall on the same weekend

How is this possible? Well, here’s the thing, the Islamic calendar and the Gregorian calendar don’t match up precisely.

The Islamic calendar relies on the cycles of the moon. Because of that, the lunar month moves forward by about 10 to 11 days each year.

So here’s how things will be looking come 2033, according to Al Habib:

Let’s break it down: First, the holiday will begin on 1 Shawwal 1454 AH, which should be Monday, 03 January 2033, but could, of course, fall earlier, depending on sightings of the moon.

This will of course make it the party of the century, with celebrations worldwide.

Better start party planning now, because we can’t imagine how much it will cost to book a table in front of the Burj Khalifa on that date.

Happy New Year’s Eid!

The next holiday will be Eid Al-Adha, which will likely begin begin on 10 Dhul-Hijjah 1454 AH, corresponding likely with Friday, 11 March 2033.

Ramadan will then start at the end of November, and the most likely date is Wednesday, 23 November 2033.

Then 2033’s second Eid al-Fitr, 1 Shawwal 1455 AH, will most likely begin Friday, 23 December 2033, falling over Christmas.

Merry Christmas Eid!
