Shots were fired at Kylie Jenner on social media for how she uses her private jet. The Kylie Cosmetics founder kicked up a stormi in the comments for taking a three-minute flight from Camarillo, California to Van Nuys, California to avoid a 39 minute drive on a highway.

The phrase #firstworldproblems gets thrown around a lot for things like slow internet access or phone battery dying but some would say that having to resort to taking their private jet because Google Maps failed to recalculate an alternative route is whole new level of problems.

The Kardashians star posted a photo on Instagram with her partner Travis Scott in between their respective private jets with the caption: “you wanna take mine or yours?”

The stormi that was kicked up

Furious at the celebrity’s lack of concern for the environment, one of the comments said:

“Why do I limit my meat consumption and use paper straws while the 1% gets to pump tons of carbon into the atmosphere for a day trip to Palm Springs?”

Other users pointed out the harsh realities of life by stating:

“I’m so glad I cycle to work… Every little helps until someone has two private jets.”

“Meanwhile I’m just trying to fill up my gas tank.”

With fuel prices incredibly high right now in the UAE and all over the world, such a statement is highly relatable.

In the background of the photo, it looks as if Kylie Jenner was driving (but most likely being driven in) a black Rolls-Royce. Known for having the most luxurious cabin ever found in a car and offering a silent and smooth drive, some would say that there are worse vehicles to be stuck in traffic in.

Kylie’s carbon footprint

On average a car emits 4.6 metric tons of carbon dioxide a year while private jets produce up to 14 times more pollution than commercial planes per passenger.

While the social media megastar appeared to be environmentally conscious when she  donated $1 million to multiple organisations in Australia to tackle bushfires back in 2020, social media users have criticised Jenner’s massive carbon footprint.

“80% of people have never taken a plane and Kylie Jenner is out here taking regular 10 minute flights, 5 flights in the last week under 30 minutes and one was 3 minutes long. Her carbon footprint for one ten minute flight is more than some people make in a year.”

Jenner purchased the plane in early 2020 for  $72.8 million according to reports from Mic. Private jets such are capable of emitting two tons of carbon dioxide in just one hour says The Washington Post.
