Nicky Romero is the headline act of Gamers Without Borders’ official launch concert, and it will all be happening virtually.
The ever-popular Dutch DJ will perform a virtual set to mark the opening of the $10 million charity esports festival’s elite series tournaments next Saturday, June 19.
To be streamed live on the Gamers Without Borders’ YouTube, Facebook and Twitch channels, the free-to-watch gig will see the DJ/producer smash through a catalogue of massive tracks as the nine-week summer gaming event celebrates the first of its six weeks of elite level action getting underway.
While the gaming title for the festival’s opening series remains under wraps, fans are promised an entire day of live esports action featuring some of the world’s biggest teams and franchises in the lead-up to the concert, which will start at 10:30 pm GST.

“Time to go to work! Over the last year I’ve been keeping the music going with my ‘demo:drops’ livestream, but this set will be something on a whole different level from that – this will be a proper party, and to an audience who I know love to have some fun, so I can’t wait for Saturday!” says Romero.
The hit-maker’s set will also raise the curtain on Gamers Without Borders’ entertainment schedule – something brand new to the festival for 2021. Fans will be able to tune in to live talk shows that are set to feature celebrity appearances, listen to podcasts about gamers, enjoy virtual meet and greets, participate in challenges, activities as well as attend more live gigs.

This year’s second edition of Gamers Without Borders’ began last week with its opening community tournaments: an open-to-all online battleground for gamers of all abilities to take part in tournaments, marathons and individual matches across a whole raft of games, including Fortnite, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, PUBG MOBILE and Clash Royale.
Its $10 million elite series will begin on the day of next Saturday’s concert and is where the world’s best esports athletes, teams and franchises go head-to-head for a share of the festival’s mammoth charity prize-fund – money they then donate directly to humanitarian organisations leading the fight against COVID-19.
This year being held under the theme of ‘No One Left Behind’, all that money – plus viewer and gamer donations – will go towards vaccine distribution to those living in the world’s most vulnerable nations.
