The ‘pink moon’ will be on its way at moonrise tonight at 6:06 pm in Dubai

The first supermoon of 2021 will be visible for all to see on Monday night.

It will also appear full for two more nights, Tuesday and Wednesday.

This is expected to be the first of two supermoons that are due to appear in 2021 according to NASA, with second moon appearing next month.

Both are expected to be 14 percent larger due to their orbits being at the closest point to Earth as well as 30 percent more luminous during this holy month of Ramadan.

While referred to as the “Pink Moon”, the first supermoon will not appear to be any shade of pink. In fact, the only time it appears to be somewhat pink is when it rises during the early hours of the morning. This is due to particles of nitrogen and oxygen in the atmosphere that spread colors made by natural light.

The name itself is in reference to the pink wildflowers, known as “Phlox Subulta” that bloom during the springtime on the east coast in North America.

To get the best view of the supermoon, it is best to be outside when the moon is still low during moonrise at 6:06 pm or as it is setting at 5:14 am. It can be seen on Monday evening until sunrise on Tuesday.

The supermoon will also appear full for two more nights, Tuesday and Wednesday, with the Tuesday’s moonrise at 7:14 pm and set at 6:29 am Wednesday morning.

Wednesday, the final day of the full moon, will rise at 8:24 pm in Dubai, setting at 7:29 am the next day.

The next supermoon “The Flower Moon”, which gets its name simply because it appears at the time when flowers blossom is expected to appear exactly a month later on May 26.
