This week Dubai will play host to the annual Watch Week, a celebration of both the art and mechanical smarts behind everyone’s favourite accessory: the humble wristwatch.
This year is all about innovation and technology, so some of the world most complicated watches will be on show. But the theme goes far beyond that, with Dubai Watch Week also celebrating disruptive messaging and marketing stunts, as well as research and development.
The event itself is free with registration (which you can do in advance, here) and will feature watches from some of the biggest brans in the world – including Breitling, Chopard, IWC and Hublot – as well as the horological forum, where some of the biggest names in the world of watchmaking – such as Jean-Claude Biver and Max Busser – will sit down to discuss the watch world in general.

Beyond the regular stands, this year’s Watch Week also features some standout exhibits. The Rolex Experience, for example, mark’s the brand’s first participation at Watch Week. It will explore the universe of the Oyster Perpetual Submariner, through panels and interactive displays.
Elsewhere, Chopard will be showcasing the innovation behind its brand-new steel sports watch, the Alpine Eagle.
This year will also mark the first time vintage watches are part of the conversation.

Of course, Esquire’s well-buffed boots will be on the ground during Dubai Watch Week, so if you can’t make it down to Dubai International Financial Centre from November 21-24, just head back here instead.
