In case you haven’t heard, the 25th anniversary edition of the Dubai Summer Surprises is taking place until September 4 and this weekend, you can enjoy many DSS events across Dubai.
1. DXB Comedy Knight
This Saturday July 23 at 5pm, the DXB Comedy Knights presents Eric Ormondi & Friends live at The Theatre at Mall of the Emirates. Ormondi won the “Best Comedian in Africa 2020” award and the event will also feature acts from around the world such as Imah, John Achkar, Miqdaad, Saaniya, Piux Xulu and the UAE’s own Abz Ali.
Doors open at 4:30pm and tickets to the event cost AED 100 for regular stalls and balcony or AED 150 for VIP stalls and can be purchased here.
2. Modesh flavoured desserts from Cold Stone Creamery
From Sunday July 24, Cold Stone Creamery stores across the UAE are offering a wide range of desserts themed around the summer mascots Modesh and Dana. An exclusive Modesh mix flavour has been created for their cakes, shakes and ice cream as well as newly designed cups.
Also as part of the DSS, Parents can take part in a social media birthday fun competition which offers participants a chance to win a Modest-themed for their child at Cold Stone Creamery by liking this post and sharing it on their story. They must also comment their child’s name and age on the post and tell Cold Stone Creamery why you want to celebrate with them.
In August, there’s going to be a virtual AR filter scoop-catching game which will let players win instant gifts like bonuses, complimentary ice cream and more.
3. Dubai Summer Surprises Movie Magic
In addition to being in dessert form, Modesh and Dana will also be in their non-consumable forms making special guest appearances at the DSS Movie Magic at Reel Cinemas event. There will be specially themed family cinema nights, summer screenings and other entertainment offers.
Children can get free admission to movies by dressing up as their favourite superhero or movie character. They must wear at least three elements of costume from their chosen character such as a superhero mask, shirt and boots .

4. SALT Island limited edition menu
At SALT Island in City Centre Mirdif, foodies can check out a limited-edition summer menu which includes mango softies, watermelon sundaes, passion fruit pops and other desserts made from tropical fruits until September 1st.
There’s also exclusive merchandise and the chance to personalise your own t-shirt with stickers at SALT’s heat press station.
5. Blue Rewards Loyalty Prizes
This weekend only from July 22 to 24, shopaholics who are part of the Al Futtaim Blue Rewards Loyalty Program will be able to win cashback prizes from various sports, electronics, home and lifestyle brands. Anyone who spends at least AED 300 at any Al-Futtaim retail brand will be able to use the Blue Rewards app to enter the draw and qualify for double cashback on their purchases.
Members can win AED 25,000 in cashback rewards and 25 winners will each take home AED 1,000.
