Girard-Perregaux has been making watches since the 1700s, and 2018 will see it delve back into its archives to champion some of the most iconic watches in the brand’s rich history.
That said, there were a few timepieces in particular that caught our eye at SIHH – one of the world’s most extravagant watch events held each year in Geneva. Below are Esquire‘s top Girard-Perregaux picks from SIHH 2018:
Laureato Chronograph
While it might be a slight upgrade to the regular automatic, the Laureato Chronograph maintains the familiar Clous de Paris texture of the dial, joined together by three snailed sub-dials. The case – still available in both 38mma and 42mm options – now comes with crown guards and octagonal screw-down pushers.
Laureato Ceramic
Everything you know and love about the Laureato, this time in Ceramic. SIHH 2018 saw the addition of a black rubber strap which, while giving it a depth of added sportiness, also lightens the watch overall.
Laureato Flying Tourbillon
It’s not hard to see why the Flying Tourbillon would make this list. Crafted only in precious metal, the Laureato Flying Tourbillon has dramatic architecture on the dial. Of course, the star of the show is almost certainly the slightly off-centre tourbillon at the 11 o’clock position.
Classic Bridges
Girard-Perregaux also gave some love to its Classic Bridges collection. Inspired by the brand’s famous golden bridge motif, this watch offers the same iconic design. This time, however, it has replaced the tourbillon with a large escapement, making it a more accessible option.
