Out with the old and in with the new, finally the legendary 40 Kong is back with a new direction focused on giving a full dining experience. The highest rooftop in Dubai is now offering food alongside its already impressive drinks and snacks menu.

The high rooftop is one of the main draws to 40 Kong and always will be. The venue still has a fun, relaxed after-work vibe perfect for any busy man looking to chill out after a hard day at the office. A few newly added elements in design including an evergreen jungle wall give the venue more of a contemporary feel. The restaurant is located via a private elevator on the ground level entrance of the H Hotel.

As the cooler temperature (finally) reaches Dubai, the rooftop can get a little chilly but worry not blankets are provided, as crazy as it sounds, you will need one. The drinks and cocktail menu are as strong as ever, and don’t panic, those snack must-haves are still on the menu but executed in a restaurant quality way. Tuna sashimi is well-paired with apple and celery guacamole, while the favourite of rock shrimp tempura with creamy chilli sauce and crispy squid with chilli lime and salt pair perfectly with the many grapes on offer. With the relaunch, they also offer main dishes such as Black Cod marinated in miso, pickled red onions and served with a Yuzu sauce and grilled chicken breast with parmesan vegetable roulade and peanut curry sauce.

The new space and menu suits groups of friends, sharing a few of the new mains alongside some smaller plates. It lends itself to the social scene of friends needing a long-overdue catch up.Not only good food, there is still good music, that gets louder and quicker as the night gets later. It generally has a relaxed vibe at around 8pm, but picks up post 10pm depending on what you are looking for. The Esquire team will certainly be back soon.
